Land Rover & Jaguar Factory Power Upgrades Brisbane
Your engine is already capable of more than it delivers. If your Land Rover or Jaguar runs a D250, D300, P200, P250 or P300, the same engine leaves the factory in a higher-output variant of your vehicle. The hardware in your engine bay is identical. The only difference is the calibration JLR loaded at the factory, and that is something you can change.
If you have been searching for a Land Rover or Jaguar power upgrade in Brisbane, this page gives you the whole picture: which engines and models qualify, the exact prices, what actually changes on the road, and straight answers to the questions most providers dodge. By the time you reach the bottom, you will know whether your vehicle qualifies, and the check that confirms it costs you nothing.
At our Capalaba workshop, we recalibrate your engine to the exact factory specification of its higher-output twin. No third-party maps, no aftermarket tune, no guesswork. You drive out with the power the factory proved your engine could make, from $950, backed by a 12-month workmanship guarantee.
The Power You Already Paid For
Here is what most owners never find out. Jaguar Land Rover builds one engine and sells it at several outputs. The Ingenium 3.0 diesel in a Land Rover or Jaguar badged D250 is mechanically the same engine that ships as a D300. The difference between them is software: the calibration file the factory loads before your vehicle leaves the line. The spread between model outputs is a pricing decision, not an engineering one.
That means your upgrade path already exists, engineered, tested and warranted by JLR on thousands of vehicles wearing the higher badge. When we recalibrate your engine, you are not running an experiment. You are running a configuration JLR itself ships every day.

Same engine, two badges. The difference is the calibration.
Why Factory Calibration Beats a Tune
You could take your vehicle to a performance shop and have a custom map written for it. Plenty of owners do, and here is the honest difference. An aftermarket tune is one tuner’s interpretation of what your engine can handle, tested on a dyno for an afternoon. A factory calibration is JLR’s own engineering, validated across millions of kilometres, every climate, and the full durability program the factory runs before any output is signed off.
Your engine keeps factory drivability, factory emissions behaviour and factory protection strategies, because it is running factory software. Your fuel economy stays where the higher-output variant sits, which in daily driving is nearly identical to what you have now. And when a dealer plugs in, what they find is a configuration JLR uses, applied with dealership-level diagnostic equipment, not a stranger’s map.
Which Upgrade Fits Your Engine?
Your VIN tells us exactly which engine and calibration your vehicle carries, and which factory step is available. These are the supported upgrade paths and the prices you will pay.
| Upgrade path | What you get | Price (AUD) |
|---|---|---|
| D250 to D300 (Ingenium 3.0 diesel) | Factory D300 output and torque | $950 |
| D300 to D350 (Ingenium 3.0 diesel) | Factory D350 output and torque | $950 |
| Petrol P200 to P250 | Factory P250 output | $1,250 |
| Petrol P250 to P300 | Factory P300 output | $1,250 |
| Petrol P300 to P400 (where factory supported) | Factory P400 output | From $1,800 |

One engine family, several factory outputs. Your VIN says which one you have.
What we will not do, and we would rather tell you now than after you have driven here: no upgrades for SVR models, V8 supercharged engines, or any vehicle without a factory-approved path. If your engine has no higher factory twin, there is nothing genuine for us to install, and we will tell you so at the VIN check stage before you spend a cent.
Every upgrade includes a 12-month workmanship guarantee.
Is Your Model on the List?
The quickest clue is the badge on your tailgate. The Ingenium 3.0 diesel in D250 and D300 form is commonly fitted to the Defender (L663), Range Rover Sport (L461), Range Rover (L460), Discovery (L462) and Range Rover Velar (L560), and Sebastian also completes D250 to D300 upgrades on the Discovery Sport. If your tailgate reads D250 or D300, there is a very strong chance a factory step up is waiting for you.
On the petrol side, the P200, P250 and P300 Ingenium engines appear across the Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, Velar, Defender and the Jaguar E-Pace and F-Pace, with P400 as the factory ceiling on selected models. Badges can be deleted or vehicles rebadged, though, which is exactly why we never quote from a badge. Your VIN carries the truth about your engine, and reading it costs you nothing.
What Changes When You Drive Away
The numbers matter less than how the vehicle feels, so here is what you will actually notice. Overtaking that used to need planning happens in one squeeze of the pedal. Towing your boat or caravan up a Queensland range stops being a negotiation between the engine and the hill. The vehicle feels the way the higher-badged version feels on a test drive, because it now is that version, mechanically and in software.
Around here, the difference shows up in real places. Pulling the boat out at Raby Bay or Victoria Point with a D300’s torque instead of a D250’s changes how the ramp feels. The climb over the Gateway with a loaded caravan stops dropping you a gear. Even the weekend run up Mount Mee or through the D’Aguilar Range becomes the drive the brochure promised. You bought a vehicle built for this country; the upgrade simply lets it behave like one.

The factory already proved what your engine can do. We just load it.
Your Five-Point Checklist Before You Book
Five minutes with this list and your quote comes back faster and cleaner.
1. Check your badge. D250, D300, P200, P250 or P300 on the tailgate means you are likely in the game. No badge? The VIN answers it anyway.
2. Find your VIN. It sits at the base of the windscreen on the driver’s side, and on your registration papers. That 17-character code is all we need to confirm your exact engine and available factory step.
3. Confirm your vehicle is unmodified. If a previous owner fitted a tuning box or an aftermarket map, we cannot take the job, because we only load factory calibrations onto factory baselines. A quick look at the service history usually tells the story.
4. Bring your servicing up to date. A healthy engine takes its new calibration best. If your logbook service is due, our practical advice is to do it first, and yes, we can handle both in the same visit.
5. Think about timing. Bookings typically land within two weeks, and the upgrade itself takes a few hours. Most owners drop in, wait with a coffee, and drive home with the new output the same day.
Why Owners Trust SemCar With Their Engine
An engine recalibration is not a job for guesswork, and you deserve to know exactly who is plugging into yours. The work is carried out by a factory-trained Jaguar Land Rover master technician using dealership-level diagnostic equipment, at a dedicated JLR specialist workshop in Capalaba. Australia’s Motor Vehicle Information Scheme exists so specialist independent workshops can access manufacturer service information, and we use that access to keep every calibration inside factory specifications.
Curious what else your vehicle is hiding? Power is usually just the beginning; most vehicles we check also support feature activations the factory never switched on.

Factory-trained. Dealership-level equipment. Genuine calibrations only.
Honest Answers to the Hard Questions
Is a factory power upgrade safe for my engine?
Yes, and here is why we can say that plainly. The calibration we load is the one JLR ships on the higher-output version of your exact engine, validated through the factory’s own durability program. Your engine’s internals, cooling and transmission were built for that output from day one, because they are the same components fitted to the higher-badged variant.
Will it void my new-car warranty?
Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer cannot void your entire warranty simply because a third party has worked on your vehicle; what matters is whether the work caused a fault. Our calibrations are factory configurations applied within manufacturer specifications, which is the strongest position you can be in. What we will not do is promise no dealer will ever raise an eyebrow, because that promise is not ours to make. Every job carries our own 12-month workmanship guarantee.
Can a dealer tell the calibration has changed?
We will not pretend otherwise: yes, a dealer with the right equipment can identify that the calibration differs from your VIN’s original build. What they find, though, is a configuration JLR itself ships, not an aftermarket map. Anyone who tells you their work is invisible is telling you what you want to hear.
Is this the same as a tuning chip or piggyback box?
No, and the difference matters for your engine’s health. A chip or piggyback box sits between your sensors and the engine computer, feeding it altered signals so it unknowingly makes more power. Nothing like that goes anywhere near your vehicle here. We load a complete factory calibration through the diagnostic port, the same way the factory does, so there is no box to hide, no wiring spliced, and nothing to remove before a service.
Does the upgrade change my legal towing capacity?
No. Your towing capacity is a compliance figure fixed by the manufacturer for your vehicle, and no calibration changes what you are legally rated to tow. What changes is how the vehicle feels doing it: more torque means the same caravan or boat comes up the ramp and over the range with far less strain, at the same legal limit.
Will my fuel economy or drivability suffer?
No. You are running the factory calibration of the higher-output variant, so drivability, refinement and economy sit where that variant sits, which in normal driving is nearly identical to your current figures. The extra output is there when you ask for it, not forced on you when you do not.
How long does the upgrade take?
Most factory power upgrades are completed within a few hours, and you wait at the workshop or take one of our courtesy cars. Typical booking lead time is within two weeks.
Which engines do you not upgrade?
SVR models, V8 supercharged engines, and any engine without a factory-approved higher output. We also do not work on grey imports or previously modified vehicles. If we cannot do the job genuinely, we will tell you at the free VIN check.
