Range Rover Velar L560 Retrofits & Upgrades Brisbane
Nobody buys a Velar by accident. It is the Range Rover chosen with the eyes, and the design has kept its side of the bargain: a 2017 body that still looks current parked next to anything. The software is where the years show, and that is the honest business of this page.
The 2017-on L560 spans the dual-screen Touch Pro Duo era and the PIVI Pro facelift, which decide your CarPlay door, your power path and half the menu below. Every job is priced honestly by generation, from the $350 activations upward, all of it confirmed free on a VIN check.
At our Capalaba workshop, every job is performed by a factory-trained JLR master technician with genuine parts and factory coding, backed by our 12-month workmanship guarantee.
The Three Jobs Velar Owners Book Most
1. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. CarPlay and Android Auto from $580, a genuine activation on the factory screen of Touch Pro Duo builds, done while you wait. 2021-on facelift builds usually carry it from the factory, so check before paying anyone.
2. The light signature. The Velar wore slim LED design before the rest of the range caught up, and Matrix LED headlights from $5,750 complete it with genuine adaptive lighting on pre-facelift candidates, while ambient lighting at $350 finishes the cabin the higher spec carried.
3. Vision and control. The 3D surround camera at $580 activation where hardware is fitted, retrofit on VIN where it is not, and the ClearSight camera mirror from $3,450 on eligible facelift builds keeps the rear view working whatever the boot carries.

The cabin the designers drew, running this decade, from $580.
Every Upgrade the Velar L560 Can Take
Fourteen jobs, each priced against the build years that can actually take it. Touch Pro Duo cars and PIVI facelift cars answer differently on half this table, which is exactly why every row ends at the same place: a free VIN check that tells you which Velar you own before a dollar changes hands.

Already on Your Velar, So Nobody Sells It Twice
Half the value of a VIN check is the jobs it crosses off. Most 2021-on facelift Velars left the factory with CarPlay already active, so if a workshop quotes you an activation on one, walk out. Plenty of higher-spec builds already carry ambient lighting, the full camera suite and Meridian audio, and we tell you so before you spend a dollar confirming what you already own.
What We Will Not Promise the Duo Cabin
We do not transplant screen architectures. A 2018 Touch Pro Duo cabin cannot honestly become a PIVI Pro cabin, whatever a marketplace listing claims, and ClearSight sits on the facelift side of that line. The Duo cabin gets everything it can genuinely take, done properly, and a straight no on the rest. A workshop that promises a Velar everything has not read the Velar.
Which Velar Do You Own?
| Build | What It Means for Upgrades |
|---|---|
| Velar 2017-2020 (Touch Pro Duo) | The dual-screen original. CarPlay activation from $580 is the headline job, ambient lighting and camera activations follow, diesel power paths quoted per engine on VIN. |
| Velar 2021-on (PIVI Pro facelift) | CarPlay usually factory-fitted, so the money moves to ClearSight, D300 to D350 at $950, P400 tuning and Matrix lighting. Genuine new-car shortages made well-optioned facelift builds scarce, which is exactly why upgrading the one you have beats hunting one. |
| Range Rover Evoque (L551) | The Velar’s smaller sibling shares its design language and much of its software story. Its own page is coming to this silo. |
| Jaguar F-Pace | Built on the same architecture as the Velar with its own badge and its own answers. The Jaguar side of this silo is coming. |
Not sure which side of the facelift your build sits on, or which engine is under it? Dealer-level diagnostics from $350 reads the whole car, and the free VIN check answers the generation question before you book anything.
Styled in 2017, Current in 2026: Protecting the Design Purchase
The Velar was bought for how it looks, and nine years on the look still lands. Flush door handles, the unbroken waistline, the slimmest lights Land Rover had ever fitted. Park a 2018 build outside a cafe today and it reads as a current car, which is a design achievement almost nothing else from 2017 can claim.
What ages is the software behind the glass. A phone mirrors everywhere except your dashboard, a camera suite sitting dormant at the spec level the first owner ticked, lighting hardware waiting on an activation. These are software gaps in a body that has not dated, and software gaps are the cheapest thing we fix.
That is why the sensible Velar money is spent inside the car you already own. CarPlay from $580, ambient lighting at $350, the camera suite from $580, and the design purchase you made in 2017 or 2021 keeps paying you back every time you walk up to it.

The outside never dated. The inside is a $580 fix.
The Velar Owner’s Quick Checklist
- Phone still will not mirror on the top screen? Touch Pro Duo build. CarPlay activation from $580, done while you wait.
- 2021-on and CarPlay already works? Spend nothing confirming it. Look at ClearSight, D300 to D350 at $950, or Matrix lighting instead.
- Cabin darker than the brochure promised? Ambient lighting activation at $350 where the hardware is fitted.
- Towing with mirrors alone? Advanced Tow Assist at $450 on tow-package builds with surround cameras.
- Base audio in a design flagship? Meridian conversion from $6,900 with genuine hardware.
- Not sure which Velar you bought? The free VIN check answers it in minutes, no obligation.
Why Velar Owners Choose SemCar Capalaba
Every Velar job here is performed by a factory-trained JLR master technician using genuine parts, factory coding tools and the same software the dealer network runs, at independent workshop pricing. Australia’s Motor Vehicle Information Scheme gives specialist independent workshops access to manufacturer service information, and we use it on every Velar that comes through the door, with every retrofit and activation leaving under our 12-month workmanship guarantee. The same access covers routine work, which is why owners book their Land Rover service in Brisbane with us as well.
Just as importantly, we read the car before we quote it. The VIN tells us whether your Velar is Duo or PIVI, which engine it carries and what the first owner optioned, so the quote you get is for your car, never for a generic L560.

Respect for the design starts with reading the VIN.
Questions You Must Ask Before Booking
Does my Range Rover Velar have Apple CarPlay?
It depends on the year. Most 2017-2020 Touch Pro Duo builds shipped without it and take a genuine activation from $580 on the factory screens, done while you wait. Most 2021-on PIVI Pro facelift builds carry it from the factory. The free VIN check answers it for your exact car before you spend anything.
How much is CarPlay for a Velar in Brisbane?
From $580 as a genuine software activation on Touch Pro Duo builds at our Capalaba workshop. No aftermarket head unit, no cut looms, wireless where the hardware supports it, and it survives dealer software updates.
Can you upgrade my 2018 Velar’s screens to the newer PIVI Pro system?
Honestly, no, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a transplant. The Touch Pro Duo and PIVI Pro architectures are different cars under the glass. What we can do is make the Duo cabin everything it can genuinely be: CarPlay from $580, ambient lighting, camera activations and coding, all on factory software.
Can I get the ClearSight camera mirror on my Velar?
On eligible 2021-on facelift builds, yes, from $3,450 with genuine hardware. Pre-facelift Duo builds sit on the wrong side of the architecture line for ClearSight, and we will confirm your build’s answer on the VIN before quoting.
What power upgrades suit the Velar?
2021-on D300 diesels take the D300 to D350 factory-calibration upgrade at $950. Petrol builds from P250 through P400 have tuning paths from $1,250. Earlier D240 and D275 diesels are mapped per engine and quoted on VIN, so the number you get is real for your car.
Is the Velar the same as the Jaguar F-Pace underneath?
They share the same platform with different bodies, cabins and software choices, so some answers carry across and plenty do not. The Jaguar side of our silo is coming, and in the meantime the VIN check reads either badge honestly.
How long do Velar upgrades take?
Software activations like CarPlay, ambient lighting and camera activations are usually same-day, often while you wait. Hardware retrofits like Matrix LED headlights or a Meridian conversion are booked jobs, and we confirm the timeline when we quote your VIN.
Do you offer a courtesy car while my Velar is in the workshop?
Yes, a free courtesy car is available by advance reservation, subject to availability, for longer bookings at our Capalaba workshop. Reserve it when you book, and same-day software jobs are usually quicker than the coffee run next door.
