Petrol Factory Power Upgrades for Land Rover & Jaguar Brisbane
The diesel owners have had this secret for years, and now it is the petrol family’s turn. The Ingenium petrol engine in your Land Rover or Jaguar is built at one specification and sold at several outputs: P200, P250, P300 and beyond, each one a calibration file rather than a different engine. If your badge reads P200 or P250, a higher factory output is already sitting under your bonnet, switched down since delivery.
If you have been searching for a petrol power upgrade in Brisbane, this page carries the complete picture: the factory steps we load, the real output figures, which Land Rover and Jaguar models qualify, fixed pricing from $1,250, and honest answers on warranty, detectability and updates.
At our Capalaba workshop, every upgrade is the factory’s own higher calibration, loaded by a factory-trained JLR master technician in hours while you wait, backed by our 12-month workmanship guarantee.
One Petrol Engine, a Ladder of Outputs
JLR’s Ingenium petrol family works exactly like its diesel sibling. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder ships as the P200, P250 and P300, identical hardware wearing different calibrations, and the 3.0-litre six carries its own factory rungs up to the P400. Which rung your vehicle sits on was decided by an options list, or in many 2021 to 2023 builds, by the semiconductor shortage quietly deciding for you.
Moving up the ladder adds nothing to your engine bay and removes nothing from it. We load the factory’s own higher configuration, the same file running in thousands of higher-badged builds across Australia, and your engine collects the output it was engineered to carry all along. This is the petrol chapter of the same story told across our whole retrofits and activations division: your vehicle already owns more than it shows you.

Which rung you got was decided by an options list. It is not permanent.
The Factory Steps and What They Cost
Both ends of every step are factory-published specifications, so the outcome is never a guess.
| Factory step | Output after the upgrade | Price |
|---|---|---|
| P200 to P250 | 184 kW (250 PS) / 365 Nm | $1,250 |
| P250 to P300 | 221 kW (300 PS) / 400 Nm | $1,250 |
| Six-cylinder steps up to P400 (where factory supported) | Up to 294 kW (400 PS) / 550 Nm | From $1,800, quoted on VIN |
The four-cylinder steps are the volume story: a P250 gains 37 kilowatts over a P200, and a P300 carries 37 more again with a fatter mid-range, which is the difference between an Evoque that keeps up and one that gets on with it. The six-cylinder ladder depends on your exact build, which is precisely what the free VIN check answers before any money moves. Every upgrade includes our 12-month workmanship guarantee.
Which Land Rover and Jaguar Models Qualify
The petrol Ingenium spans more of the JLR range than any other engine, and this is also the page where Jaguar owners finally join the power upgrade story:
| Model | Common petrol builds |
|---|---|
| Range Rover Evoque (L551) | P200, P250 |
| Discovery Sport (L550) | P200, P250 |
| Range Rover Velar (L560) | P250, P300 |
| Jaguar F-Pace, E-Pace, XE & XF | P250, P300 |
| Defender, Range Rover Sport & Range Rover six-cylinder builds | Confirmed by VIN |
The pattern you know from our diesel pages holds here: the badge is a hint, the VIN is the truth. It confirms in seconds which rung your engine sits on and which factory step applies, and the check is free. Diesel owners have their own ladder starting with the D250 to D300 upgrade and topping out at the D300 to D350.
Factory Calibration, Not a Tune
Every word of our diesel policy applies unchanged here. An aftermarket petrol tune is a third party’s opinion about your engine’s margins; a factory step is JLR’s own engineering, durability-tested and shipped in production vehicles. After the upgrade, your engine runs inside exactly the same limits as every factory example of its higher badge.
The boundaries hold too, and on the petrol side they matter even more: no SVR models, no supercharged V8s, no previously modified vehicles, and no invented steps beyond what the factory ships for your engine. If your F-Pace is an SVR, we will admire it and decline it in the same breath. If your build has no factory step above it, the free VIN check will tell you plainly, because the deeper promise of our factory power upgrades page is that we only sell what JLR already built.

Your Five-Point Checklist Before You Book
1. Find your VIN. Base of the windscreen on the driver’s side, or your registration papers. It identifies your exact petrol variant in seconds.
2. Know your badge, trust the VIN. P-badges get deleted more often than diesel ones, so the VIN stays the final word on what you drive.
3. Confirm your vehicle is unmodified. Factory baselines only. An existing tune changes the answer, so tell us upfront and we will advise honestly.
4. Think about how you drive. Mostly urban Evoque duty or weekend runs up Mount Glorious? Mention it, and we will tell you honestly what the step will and will not change for that driving.
5. Bundle the visit. The same VIN check reveals every dormant feature your build carries, from software activations to camera systems, so one booking can cover more than power.
Why Owners Trust SemCar With Their Engines
Petrol or diesel, calibration is the deepest software work your vehicle will ever receive. Every upgrade here is performed by a factory-trained Jaguar Land Rover master technician using dealership-level diagnostic equipment at our dedicated JLR workshop in Capalaba. Australia’s Motor Vehicle Information Scheme gives specialist independent workshops access to manufacturer service information, and we use it on every calibration, every time.
And the same honesty that runs through this whole division runs here: fixed prices published before you enquire, hard limits on what we refuse to do, and the uncomfortable questions answered below rather than dodged.

Fixed prices, hard limits, the factory’s own file.
Questions You Must Ask Before Booking
Will a petrol power upgrade void my new-car warranty?
Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer cannot void your entire warranty simply because a third party worked on your vehicle; what matters is whether the work caused a fault. We load factory configurations to factory procedure, and every job carries our own 12-month workmanship guarantee. The next answer covers the part most workshops leave out.
Can a dealer tell the upgrade has been done?
Yes. A dealer with the right equipment can see your calibration differs from your VIN’s delivery specification. What they find is JLR’s own higher configuration, not a third-party map. Invisibility is a promise other people make.
Will a software update remove the upgrade?
It can. A major over-the-air or dealership update occasionally returns a vehicle to its delivery calibration, and when that happens we re-apply the configuration. Rare, known, told to you before you book.
Is it safe for the engine?
Each higher calibration is the output JLR engineered this engine to carry, running in thousands of factory examples. Your internals, cooling and drivetrain are those same validated components, which is why factory steps are the only power work we touch.
Will it change my fuel economy?
Petrol responds to your right foot more visibly than diesel, so the honest answer is: driven as you drive today, close to familiar; driven to enjoy the new step, thirstier while you do. Anyone promising more power and less fuel in the same sentence is selling something.
Do I need premium fuel afterwards?
Run what JLR specifies for the higher output, which for these engines is 95 RON or better, and premium 98 lets the calibration deliver its best consistently. If you currently run 91 in a P200, budget for the better drink; the engine will thank you either way.
How long does it take?
Hours, not days, done while you wait, with a pre-booked courtesy car available by advance reservation, subject to availability. Typical booking lead time is within two weeks.
Is there anything you will not do?
Yes. No SVR models, no supercharged V8 engines, no previously modified vehicles, and no steps that do not exist in the factory’s own catalogue for your engine. If your build has no factory rung above it, you will hear that plainly at the free VIN check.
