Range Rover Sport L461 Retrofits & Activations Brisbane

The Sport badge makes a promise, and not every L461 left the factory keeping it. The newest Sport launched loaded, then launched straight into the semiconductor shortage, and between spec tiers and deleted features, two identical-looking 2022 Sports can drive like different vehicles.

This page is the performance owner’s guide: what sharpens the drive, what the factory calibrations unlock, what your build already carries so nobody sells it twice, and the free VIN check that reads your exact configuration in two minutes. 2022-onwards L461, every trim to SV.

At our Capalaba workshop, every job is performed by a factory-trained JLR master technician with genuine parts and factory coding, backed by our 12-month workmanship guarantee.

The Three Jobs Sport Owners Book Most

1. Factory power upgrades. The D300 to D350 at $950 is the Sport’s signature job: the engine you have, running the calibration the badge deserves. Petrol power upgrades from $1,250 cover the P400, with V8 builds discussed honestly at the VIN check, and the whole path lives in our factory power upgrades range.

2. Dynamic mode activation. The chassis shipped ready; on builds where the sharper mode was never switched on, the dynamic mode activation at $580 is the cheapest transformation-per-dollar on this page, and the first thing a Sport owner notices on the on-ramp.

3. The performance cabin. The Alcantara paddle-shift steering wheel from $3,450 is the touchpoint that makes every drive feel like the SV brochure, genuine and coded as factory in our retrofits and conversions range, alongside Stop/Start deactivation at $350 for owners who want the engine’s manners to match theirs.

Now the list that keeps the rows above honest: what every L461 already carries. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standard from launch, so anyone quoting an L461 owner for a CarPlay activation is charging for the factory’s work; that page exists for the older platforms. PIVI Pro and the digital driver display, standard. Adaptive cruise control, standard. Pixel LED lighting, standard, which is why our Matrix LED conversion page serves other platforms, not this one. The 3D surround camera, standard, and the ClearSight mirror on most builds, with the shortage-era exception below. If a workshop quotes you for any of these without reading your VIN first, you have learned everything you need to know about that workshop.

Which Sport Years and Specs This Covers

The shortage note matters here as much as on any platform we cover: the L461 launched into the 2022 peak of the semiconductor shortage, and launch-window builds routinely left the factory with features deleted from the sheet while the supporting hardware stayed fitted. On a performance vehicle that includes the systems that sharpen the drive, which is exactly what the free VIN check reads in two minutes.

Why Some Sports Left the Factory Softer Than the Badge

Here is the spec-tier truth the brochure never put plainly: the Sport range spans sedate to SV, the options list decided how much Sport each build actually received, and the shortage deleted more on top. Two owners paid Sport money; one got the calibration, the mode and the wheel, and one got the silhouette.

The honest reframe is better news than it sounds. The hardware gap between trims is smaller than the brochure implies, because the platform underneath is shared; what differs is calibration and configuration, which is exactly the layer a coding session reaches. Dynamic mode at $580, the D350 calibration at $950 and the paddle wheel close most of the distance between a base Sport and the drive the badge promised, for less than one option pack cost new. Your VIN reads which of the three your build is missing, free.

Your Five-Point Checklist Before You Book

1. Find your VIN. Base of the windscreen on the driver’s side, or your registration papers. It decides everything on this page.

2. Know your engine code. D300, D350, P400 or V8: it is on your build sheet and it decides your power path.

3. Check your drive mode dial. If Dynamic is absent from the list your Sport offers, this page found you, and the fix is $580.

4. Confirm your vehicle is unmodified. Factory baselines only: we work exclusively with genuine factory calibrations, never aftermarket tunes, at any price.

5. Bundle the performance visit. Power, dynamic mode and the wheel is a single day, and one VIN check prices the whole menu above.

Why Sport Owners Trust SemCar

Performance work attracts shortcuts, and this is the page to say plainly where we stand: every job above is performed by a factory-trained Jaguar Land Rover master technician at our dedicated JLR workshop in Capalaba, with genuine parts, dealership-level coding equipment, and calibrations that are only ever the factory’s own. We fit nothing aftermarket at any price, because the difference between a factory tune and a copy is the difference between capability your warranty framework recognises and a gamble with a two-and-a-half tonne vehicle. Australia’s Motor Vehicle Information Scheme gives specialist independent workshops access to manufacturer service information, and we use it on every Sport that comes through the door. The same access covers routine work, which is why owners book their Land Rover servicing in Brisbane with us as well.

The standing promise applies at full sharpness: whatever your build cannot support, or already carries, you hear plainly at the free VIN check, and you pay nothing to find out.

Questions You Must Ask Before Booking

My Sport is a 2022 build. Could it be missing features it has the hardware for?

Very likely. The L461 launched into the 2022 peak of the semiconductor shortage, so launch-window Sports shipped with features deleted from order sheets while the supporting hardware kept being fitted, and on this platform that includes systems that sharpen the drive. That is why launch builds are the best VIN check candidates on this page: two minutes reads what your build actually carries against what it was delivered with, free.

Will any of this void my new-car warranty?

Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer cannot void your entire warranty simply because a third party has worked on your vehicle; what matters is whether the work caused a fault. Everything on this page is genuine parts, factory calibrations and factory procedures, and every job carries our own 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Is the D300 to D350 upgrade a chip or a tune?

Neither, and the distinction is the whole point. It is the factory’s own D350 calibration applied to the engine you already have, because the D300 and D350 share the same Ingenium diesel. No chip is fitted, no aftermarket map is written, and nothing runs outside the parameters the factory itself ships. We fit nothing aftermarket at any price.

Do I need a CarPlay or PIVI activation on my L461?

No, and be wary of anyone who quotes you for one. Every L461 shipped with PIVI Pro and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from launch. Our CarPlay activation page exists for the older platforms that need it, and honesty about who does not need a service is the reason you can trust the rest of this page.

Will dynamic mode work on my build?

On most builds, yes: the chassis shipped ready and the activation switches on what is already engineered in. On some configurations the answer is no, and you will hear that plainly at the VIN check before any money changes hands. If Dynamic is absent from your drive mode dial today, your VIN tells us in two minutes which side your Sport sits on.

Can a dealer tell work has been done?

Yes. A dealer with the right equipment can see your configuration differs from your VIN’s delivery specification. What they find is genuine capability enabled to factory behaviour with genuine parts. We say this on every page because you deserve the whole picture.

Will a software update undo activations?

Hardware stays fitted regardless. Occasionally a major update returns coding to delivery configuration, and when that happens we re-apply it. Rare, known, disclosed now rather than later.

How long does the work take?

Power, dynamic mode and the wheel in a single day is the classic Sport booking, cabin retrofits depend on genuine-part lead times quoted honestly up front, a courtesy car is available by advance reservation, subject to availability, and typical booking lead time is within two weeks. One VIN check prices any combination on this page.
