THE STORY BEHIND CAPALABA’S EUROPEAN CAR SPECIALISTS
Why Brisbane’s European Car Owners Drive Past Three Workshops to Reach Ours
Most Brisbane workshops will tell you they service European cars. SemCar’s team built a workshop specifically around them. Sebastian Maya, our founder, holds both a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering and a TAFE-qualified automotive trade certificate, which is a rare combination in Australian independent workshops. The result is a Capalaba workshop where the diagnostic capability matches the dealership without the dealer markup.
BUILT BY AN ENGINEER, RUN BY A SPECIALIST
A Workshop Designed Around What European Cars Actually Need
Walk into any generalist workshop with a Range Rover that needs a transfer case service or a Volkswagen Golf with a DSG mechatronic fault, and most will refer you to the dealer. We built our independent European specialist mechanic in Capalaba specifically so European car owners in Brisbane have a third option, one that brings dealer-level diagnostic platforms into a workshop that charges 30 to 50 percent below dealer pricing.
Our customers come from across the Brisbane and Redlands service catchment, including the eastern suburbs, the Redlands, and as far as Cleveland and Wynnum. Many of them have driven past three or four other workshops to reach us. The reason is simple: when a workshop genuinely specialises in your vehicle’s brand, faults are diagnosed correctly the first time.

Meet Sebastian: The Engineer Who Built SemCar

The engineering background gives him an unusually deep understanding of the electronic architectures inside modern European vehicles, while the trade qualification means his hands have done the actual work for years.
Sebastian’s specialty is anything where the mechanical and electronic worlds meet: ECU coding, module programming, ADAS calibration, air suspension, and hybrid and electric vehicle high voltage systems. The workshop is set up around his expertise, with a dedicated diagnostic bay running every major European car brand we service using factory-grade tooling.
The Credentials That Sit Behind Every Job
ARCtick refrigerant handling licence AU60730. Approved Inspection Station AIS 11377 for Queensland Roadworthy Certificates. Active membership of the Motor Trades Association of Queensland. Finalist in the MTA Queensland 2025 Industry Awards. Qualified for hybrid and electric vehicle high voltage system work. ABN 15 668 217 098.
What Sets Our Workshop Apart From the Generalists
Three things make SemCar different from a generalist workshop.
Factory Diagnostic Platforms
We run every major European factory diagnostic platform on site, which means we can talk to every electronic module the dealership can. BMW ISTA, Mercedes XENTRY, Audi ODIS, Land Rover Pathfinder, Jaguar SDD, and Porsche PIWIS.
Manufacturer Schedules
We follow manufacturer service schedules to the letter, which protects your warranty rights under Australian Consumer Law. Genuine or OEM-equivalent parts. Logbook stamped properly. Every time.
Plain Language and No Surprises
We explain the work in plain language, provide an upfront quote before any tool comes off the wall, and hand you a free courtesy car so your day continues normally.
Six Ways to Pay When the Job Is Done
Pay how you prefer. We accept all major cards plus Afterpay and Zip Pay for service work that needs flexible payment.
