Chandler is Range Rover country. Acreage blocks, long unsealed driveways and a taste for Discovery, Defender and Range Rover Sport mean the vehicles coming to us from Chandler work harder than most, and their faults are rarely the simple kind. SemCar Automotive Group is about seven minutes away at Unit 2, 128 Steel Street, Capalaba, in a purpose-fitted workshop that opened in September 2026, built around exactly this kind of vehicle.

You speak to the technician who diagnoses your car, we use the same factory-level platforms the Land Rover dealership uses, and a free courtesy car is available when you reserve it at booking, so an air suspension investigation does not cost you a day of your life.

Seven Minutes From Chandler, One Turn Off Redland Bay Road

From Chandler, take Old Cleveland Road towards Capalaba, turn right onto Redland Bay Road, then turn into Steel Street. Look for the black SemCar and Euro-Aus Performance sign on the fence at the driveway of number 128, with the building number on the wall beside it. SemCar is Unit 2, on your right as you drive in, with customer parking directly in front. The trip is about five kilometres, roughly seven minutes in normal traffic, short enough that most Chandler owners drop the car on the way to work and take a pre-booked courtesy car straight back out.

The graph below puts the drive in perspective. For a Chandler owner, the franchised Land Rover dealership means the far side of Brisbane’s southside or the inner city, a shuttle bus, and a service advisor between you and the person working on your car. The figures are typical off-peak drive times and will stretch in traffic, but the gap never closes.

What Acreage Driving Does to a Range Rover, and How We Catch It Early

A Range Rover Sport that lives on a Chandler acreage block sees a different life from the same vehicle parked in a Carindale garage. Corrugated driveways work the air suspension every single day, dust and grit find their way into height sensors and compressor intakes, low-speed manoeuvring on gravel loads the driveline, and the towing that acreage life involves puts heat through the transmission and cooling system. None of that is a fault in the vehicle, but it means the wear items arrive sooner, and the cars that come to us from Chandler show it.

The table below covers the work Chandler owners bring us most often across the Land Rover range, and what we check before quoting, because the difference between a $400 sensor and a $3,000 compressor and strut job is a proper diagnosis, not a guess. Our Land Rover specialist team runs the factory-level platform that reads every module, so the quote you get is for the part that has actually failed.

VehicleCommonly requested work from ChandlerWhat we check before quoting
Range Rover Sport and VogueAir suspension faults and uneven ride height, compressor failure, timing chain noise on affected enginesStrut leak test, compressor run time and duty cycle, height sensor data, valve block seals, chain guide wear

Air Suspension Faults: What the Warning Actually Means

The single most common Chandler phone call starts with a suspension fault message and a car sitting low on one corner. The message tells you the system has a problem; it does not tell you which of five components caused it, and they range widely in cost. The table below is the honest version of what that warning can mean, so you know what a fair quote looks like before you get one.

Symptom you noticeLikely causesHow we confirm it
One corner sits low overnightLeaking air strut or air line on that cornerPressurised leak test with soap solution and listening on each strut and fitting
Whole car slow to rise, fault after long drivesWorn compressor, often caused by a small leak elsewhere making it run constantlyCompressor pressure and run-time test, then leak test, because replacing the compressor without fixing the leak kills the new one
Height changes on its own, fault comes and goesHeight sensor or linkage, common after gravel and dust exposureLive sensor data compared across all four corners, physical check of sensor arms and linkages
Corner drops while driving, fault stays onValve block seals or a stuck valveValve actuation test through the factory platform while monitoring corner pressures

Our air suspension and steering service starts with that diagnosis, and you get the quote before a single part is ordered. If the fix is a sensor and not a compressor, that is what you pay for.

Towing, Cameras and Cruise: The Features Your Land Rover Can Still Gain

Acreage life means towing, and towing a horse float or a boat with a Discovery or Defender is where Land Rover’s factory features earn their keep. Advanced Tow Assist steers the trailer for you while reversing, ClearSight mirrors see past a loaded boot, and the 3D surround camera makes hitching up a one-person job. Many vehicles left the factory with the hardware for these features but not the software to use them, and they can be activated by VIN through our Land Rover and Jaguar retrofits division, with genuine parts and factory coding where a retrofit is needed. Ask at your next service and we will tell you what your specific vehicle is eligible for, and what it is not.

What You Get That the Dealership Does Not

  • A free courtesy car, reserved when you book. Courtesy cars are free of charge but allocated in advance, so request one when you book your service rather than on the day. Seven minutes to Steel Street, then straight back to Chandler in ours while the diagnosis runs.
  • The technician on the phone, not a service advisor. The person who found the fault explains it and fixes it.
  • Factory-level Land Rover and Jaguar diagnostics. The same platform the dealership uses, reading every module rather than guessing from a generic code.
  • Quotes before work, always. Sensor or compressor, you know which before anything is ordered.
  • A 12-month workmanship guarantee on our repairs. Backed by a workshop seven minutes away rather than a call centre.
  • Logbook servicing that protects your warranty. Servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule with quality parts keeps your rights intact under Australian Consumer Law.
  • Safety certificates, pre-purchase inspections and towing electrics under one roof. One workshop for the whole life of the vehicle.

Questions You Must Ask Before Booking

How far is SemCar from Chandler?

About five kilometres, or roughly seven minutes. Take Old Cleveland Road towards Capalaba, turn right onto Redland Bay Road, then turn into Steel Street and into the driveway at number 128 beside the black SemCar and Euro-Aus sign. SemCar is Unit 2, on your right.

Can I get a courtesy car for a multi-day diagnosis?

Yes, free of charge, including for the longer investigations that Range Rover electrical and suspension faults sometimes need, but it must be reserved when you book the car in. Courtesy cars are allocated in advance, subject to availability, and are not automatically available on the day.

My Range Rover is sitting low on one corner. What will it cost?

It depends entirely on which component has failed, and we will not quote until we know. A leaking strut, a worn compressor, a height sensor and a valve block all produce a similar warning but sit at very different price points. The diagnosis comes first, then a fixed quote for the actual fault.

Do you service Discovery 3 and 4, or only the newer models?

We service the full Land Rover range from 2005 onward, and Discovery 3 and 4 remain some of the most common vehicles in the workshop. Their EGR, cooling and suspension needs are well understood here.

Will independent servicing void my Land Rover warranty?

No. Under Australian Consumer Law you can service with an independent workshop without losing your manufacturer’s warranty, provided the work follows the schedule and uses quality parts, which is how we service. The ACCC explains your rights here.

Can you fit and wire towing equipment properly for a Discovery or Defender?

Yes, including the electrics and the software side. Many Land Rovers also support Advanced Tow Assist and trailer camera features that can be activated by VIN, which we can check during the same visit.

Do you look at Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi SUVs as well?

Yes. GLE, X5 and Q7 owners from Chandler use us for the same reasons, dealer-level diagnostics and a pre-booked courtesy car, and our European brands pages cover each marque in detail.

What are your opening hours and how do I book?

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Book online with the form below, or call (07) 3823 5844 or 0426 935 622 and speak directly to the workshop.
